In my career, I have learned that keeping the assets up and running was how the company makes better profits. Not seeing any Reliability practices, at any of the company’s I had been working for, they expected that this was a maintenance department only responsibility, regardless of how the assets were being abused by the operators. Looking for a solution, I found the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) has also been one of the big tools used that has given some of my personal satisfaction with finding the cause(s) of issues that have plagued the company with a continual break/fix routine year after year. A couple of my best RCA’s have been v-belt drive belt failure and collector belt safety problems. This is one of the skills that give me a lot of satisfaction.
Because I said so, is seldom a good answer. You must give a reason - an explanation. I explain ways, to make the others know what I know! Not just because!
I have several million dollar projects under my belt. From large asset installs, new building addition. to building a 34 team maintenance department. I have ruffly 6 department moved from building to building, and from with a building. I have been able to adapt to daily, weekly, monthly and even hourly changes without missing a deadline.
